Is Cellcontrol really nice for distracted driving prevention?
Hello everybody! Recently I've discovered that there is a special app called Cellcontrol that may be used to prevent distracted driving among teens. Does it really effective?
Hi Scott!
The Cellcontrol app you are talking about is the development of the Cellcontrol Company. If you want to use it, it will cost you $7.95 per month for six phones maximum. The whole anti-distracted driving system consists not only of the Cellcontrol app but also from other hardware and software parts. They include:
special software which uses GPS of the cell phone or Bluetooth in the vehicle to determine when this vehicle is moving
special devices which must be connected to the onboard diagnostics port or to the vehicle's electronics system or to its infotainment platform
application to block incoming calls putting them to voice mail, prevent text messages from getting to the phone until the car stops, and locking the keys of the phone to prevent driver from dialing or texting while driving
All those things have names: Cellcontrol, Key2SafeDriving, Taser International's Protector and Trinity-Noble's Guardian Angel.
In general, the system of all those devices and apps works quite effectively, but it may be a little bit complicated to set it all up, and in addition it works only when the car is moving. But there is another solution. Your children might keep small cell phone jammer in the glovebox of their cars which has car adapter and can work there as long as it is necessary, preventing teens from talking and texting while driving for whole time they are at the wheel.
